Fic or Treat!

It is that spooky season again, and that's means it's time for Fic or Treat!

Please read over the entirety of the following information before deciding (how) to participate:


• Participants must be 18+.

• There are three ways to participate (or not)-

1. Create your "Door" and leave a link to it in the comments so that your "Door" can be added to the "Neighborhood". Basically, make a post with what you're offering/somebody might receive from you and then leave a link to your post in the comments so I can add it to the community's list of folks participating whose offer-post is open to other community members. If you leave a link to your post in the comments, you must be open to receiving requests from community members. You may also open up your post to your friends list or everybody/anybody wandering by.

This community operates under the assumption that we can all be reasonable adults. There are no promises or guarantees. Any individual has a right of refusal for any other individual, prompt, or otherwise. I, as administrator, have a right to remove any community participant for any reason.

2. Take this idea and hold a Fic or Treat completely independent of this community within your own fandom community or friend group! That's fine! You get to make your own guidelines and have fun.

3. Take this idea and have an individual Fic or Treat in your own space, completely independent of this community! That's also fine! You get to make your own guidelines and have fun.

No, you do not have to offer/requsts fic. It just works for the event name. ^^;; Fic, art, photos, picspam, icons, recipes, playlists, recs of all types, etc. are all welcome. If you want to offer photos of a local cemetery or random recipes or songs about birds, that is fine. Part of the fun of a Fic or Treat is getting a bunch of different things.

Also, if you're participating via the community, you do not have to knock on everyone's door in the neighborhood. That's fine.

If this community/neighborhood has one guiding rule, it's "Don't Be A Jerk."

My current fandoms are: SaGa Series, local inactive cemeteries, Rage of Bahamut, grunge, etc.

Other info: DNW/Will not create anything with rape/noncon, eggs, night-time cemetery photos, fancy/animated icons.


3. Customize further if desired. Since this is open to all sorts of gifting, one template isn't going to fit quite right for everything.

Further Info:
• Please try to hand out goodies on/around October 31. (Since it's midweek again, maybe try for some time between the 25th-Nov. 4th. Earlier is fine too.)
• Try to give something to everyone who knocks.
• If you have posted a door to the neighborhood and get overwhelmed or otherwise, please just let me know and we'll turn off your light. It's okay to run out of candy early.
• Please thank anyone who gives you goodies.

• If I've totally bungled something, especially HTML, let me know. ^^;;


• When you leave a comment with your door, please leave a few details about what you're offering. (It's safer if you list a few things than me trying to do it, I promise.)

EX: kalloway's light is on and welcoming fic-or-treaters!
(Offering: fanfic, original fic, cemetery photos, icons, music recs, surprises, etc.)


• Non-Fandom is entirely welcome! If you just want to give out cat pictures to anyone who would like cat pictures, you can make a door and give out cat pictures! (It's me, I would like cat pictures!) Or recipes or movie recs or whatever.

Sorry if it’s already mentioned in the guidelines and I’m completely overlooking it, but is it alright if we hand out treats earlier than the thirty-first? I don’t anticipate tons of traffic at my door but I do feel it would be easier to manage if I could hand them out as they come until the porch lights turn off.

Yeah, it's fine. ^_^ Last year was a mix of people doing them when they could and doing a batch around Halloween and it seemed to work for everyone.

This is super cool but I didn't know about this when I started my own 'trick or treat' event on my personal journal. It's slightly different (i.e. I've done some fills already). Can I still be added to the neighborhood list? I would love to have more people stop by for a visit.
